Ukraine Relief

What if you were asked to pack everything you owned in a bag that you can carry? #Ukraine has been invaded by Russia and the people are the ones that end up suffering the most. Partner with us as we travel to Ukraine with medical supplies, humanitarian aid, financial support, and spiritual help.

The first promise we made is a promise we will continue to keep: 100% of the funds go towards helping people that have been impacted by the Russian invasion with urgent and emerging needs. Transparency and integrity are core values that we will uphold.

Some can go while others can send those willing and able to go. Just like with most things, there are always logistical and operational expenses. Private donors cover our operating costs so 100% of your money can go directly to the people. Please consider covering our overhead cost.

YOU CAN HELP

We are not aligning ourselves with politics or political parties but with the people who are suffering because of it.

AVL City Church is partnering with organizations, churches, and pastors who are local and are currently either in Ukraine or Poland. We are helping by providing warm meals to the refugees, bringing food to those that are in bomb shelters and underground stations, providing medical aid to the wounded, and transporting the elderly and children into safer cities and regions.

The scope of the need is massive. If you are in a position to give financially, it will be life-changing. Every dollar helps and 100% of these funds will go towards these relief efforts.

UPDATES

Press Release: March 9th, 2022

On Monday, March 14th a team of four committed adults are heading to Eastern Europe to be the face of help from the Asheville Area.  The evolving humanitarian crisis we see on the news has prompted a local team from AVL City Church in Arden to take direct action and be involved in more than just giving financially toward world needs.  The majority of this team are Ukrainian refugees that escaped former decades of violence and persecution who now call the USA their home. They see their first culture and birth country being destroyed and their beautiful friends and family displaced by unwarranted violence and chaos.

Motivated by the direct desire to be love, this peace-carrying team will provide vital aid, offering legitimate help and hope to those directly impacted in Eastern Europe.  They are committed to providing hands-on help in the form of logistical support, practical resources, compassion, and spiritual care.

Team member and Pastor of AVL City Church, (avlcitycenter.com).  Sergio Fesiuk exclaims,  “I think the majority of us see the injustice and want to assist but aren’t sure how.  We understand not everyone can be involved indirectly going.  The last thing we want to do is burden an already strained supply chain of resources and compete with the people on the ground in need.  We are in the unique position of having been invited, and planned for the extreme responsibility to not cause harm in any way.”

Team member Ferrin Cole says, “There are lots of ways to be involved in immediate relief.  We are committed to allocating a strategic relief fund with transparency and pledge 100% of the given donations will be used to help those in need.  It’s hard to find a fund where 0% of it is used for administrative costs— but this is that.  Every penny given is going directly to those in need.”

If you feel compelled to contribute directly to the assistance we will be providing here is the link:

We were recently asked what the best thing to donate is, so here is that list:

   1. IFAK kits- these are war-zone first aid kits for treating trauma wounds.

   2. Emergency Pressure Bandages (often called Israeli Bandage). You can get them at Walmart.com, Amazon.com, and other places but the trick is getting them in time.

   3. Celox Gauze.

   4.  Windlass or C-A-T style tourniquets.

   5. Iodine pads.

We would need these items by Sunday at noon at AVL City Church 3867 Sweeten Creek Rd. Arden, NC 28704.  There is a collection bin on the porch there at that location.

Spreading the word on this would help tremendously.

AVL City Church

March 2, 2022 (from one of our partners)

"Everyday groups come in and we see the tired and shocked faces of people who have left everything behind and don’t know what lies ahead of them. Their only goal is to get their kids and loved ones as far from the threat of war as possible. We are nearing about 1,000,000 displaced people as we approach the 8th day of this insane war.

When they arrive we do our best to welcome them with hospitality and love; feeding them hot meals, providing warm beds, and clean showers. Volunteers show up to do whatever is possible to help in this time of crisis. I have seen the church in Ukraine and around the world become one living body. No labels or tag- just one purpose: love as we have been loved by God in Christ Jesus.

It’s incredible how quickly this was all put in place. I remember driving here from Lviv after our nightmare wake-up call that rockets were shooting at Kyiv and Kharkiv. Everyone was in shock. We couldn’t believe it. But, we all knew what we had to do.

In the last few days, we’ve been working hard to coordinate an organized evacuation plan out of the most dangerous areas in Kyiv. We’ve been getting phone calls from families with kids, the elderly… Orphanages have been wanting to get their kids out. We have been scrambling to do whatever we can to make it happen. My amazing wife came to me today and said she felt like we did a weeks-worth of work in half a day.

It’s been an incredible accomplishment but not an easy one.

We see God answering the prayers of the Church. We sense the power of the Holy Spirit with us. This post is not enough to tell you all the amazing things we’ve seen and heard. I’ll do my best to share more things that continue to progress. A lot is happening every day.

It is an honor to follow Jesus in a time like this.

AVL STANDS WITH THE
PEOPLE OF UKRAINE

Russia has invaded Ukraine and on February 26, 2022, we gathered in our beautiful downtown Asheville to show our support of the people of Ukraine. We also continue to pray individually and corporately. Thank you to all who came out and to those who wanted to but couldn’t.
